Massage chairs have become more popular because they provide basically the same effect as a professional masseuse in the comfort of their own home. A lot of massage chairs also have different settings for different massage styles. A massage chair is one of the best self-pampering equipment out there and getting in to one after a long days work can simply melt your problems away.
If you like having massages, getting a massage chair makes more sense and can even save you some money in the long run compared to getting a massage every week.
But recently, there have been a lot of handheld massage devices that has a more targeted approach which a lot of people like because there are times that you only want a foot or back massage and a massage chair, for the most part, targets the whole body. So here are a few things that one should take in to consideration before choosing whether to go with a massage chair or a handheld massager.
When it comes to portability, handheld massagers win hands down. The bulky and usually plugged in massage chair simply is not travel friendly. The father of my friend situated his massage chair in front of their T.V. and that is where it stayed for years until it finally broke down. It just isn’t easy to move it around and handheld massagers can be brought anywhere. For portability, handhelds win.
As one can imagine, a massage chair does the whole thing. That is well and good except that it also has an uncanny characteristic of not hitting a body part as good as the other. This can be a problem if the user really needs a good massage on hard to reach areas and that is where handheld massagers win yet again. Handhelds can be used to reach areas of the body that massage chairs simply cannot. For targeted effect, handhelds win yet again.
This is where things get interesting. This will depends entirely on preference because not everyone wants a whole body massage so they go for handheld massagers but for those who wants the whole body experience, shell out the dough for a massage chair. As I said, it depends on preference because if you want a whole body massage and you bought a lot of targeted massagers, you might end up spending more than you would if you bought a massage chair but if you only want a rubdown on certain areas, a massage chair might not be an ideal purchase for you.
handheldIn the topic of durability, massage chair tends to last a lot longer than handhelds for the same reason that it lost in portability. Massage chairs are not moved a lot therefore is not subjected to the normal torture that handhelds go through on a normal basis. Handhelds inevitably get banged around and get broken more often than massage chairs so if you are after having a massage device that will last you years, a massage chair is the best way to go.
Massage chairs wins this no doubt because a lot of massage chairs nowadays have a lot of different settings that it provides to the user. Hand held massagers often only has one cycle that it repeats over and over again while massage chairs have a variety of massage types that users can enjoy. It’s like having a personal masseuse at your disposal 24/7.
As you can see, each has their pros and cons. If you are looking for a massage that you can use everyday without having to go to a spa, then you have the option to buy a massage chair. It offers the same service which can cost you a lot less in the long run.
Get one and place it where you want, like I front of the T.V. for example, turn it on and let your troubles melt away. Getting it in the comfort of your own home doesn’t hurt either. And you can expect it to bring you comfort and relaxation for years and years to come. If that is not value, I don’t know what is.
But if you are the kind of person who tends to have a need to loosen some tense muscles from time to time, then a handheld massager is the best way to go. The fact that they are portable and is designed to hit a specific muscle group (targeted massage) is a great option specially if you want a massage on hard to reach areas.
